Copy Pen allows you to copy a part of a photo or illustration and then paste it somewhere else. This is useful when you want to duplicate and increase a specific part of a photo or erase unwanted parts in a photo. In this example, we will erase the bird in the picture below.
Open the ①Tool Select window and tap ②Special. Open the ①Special Pen window and select ②Copy Pen (Relative). In this example, we will copy and increase the number of maple leaves in the picture.
Setting up for Copy Pen (Relative)
Start by drawing a maple leaf (to be copied from later), and prepare an image with one new layer added. Select ①Copy Pen (Fixed) and tap ② >. Change the ③Brush Pattern to "Felt Tip PenPen (Hard)", Set the ④Jitter of Copy Angle to "100%".
Change ①Reference Layer to "Specific Layer" and tap ②Layer. Select the ③layer you want to copy from in which the maple leaves are drawn. Move the ①area you wish to copy and adjust the ②Thickness of the maple leaf so that the entire maple leaf is in the copy area.
Copy the maple leaf you have drawn. Since the "Copy Zoom" is 100%, the maple leaves you make copies of will all be in the same size, but by adjusting the "Copy Zoom", you can make copies of maple leaves in different sizes.
Adjusting copy size and repetition
Now, let's change the "Copy Zoom". Tap ①Settings, and change the ②Copy Zoom to "60%". We have just successfully copied maple leaves in different sizes. You can now make copies of maple leaves in different sizes by adjusting the "Copy Zoom".
Practical tips for effective Copy Pen use
- Use a neutral brush pattern to keep copied elements consistent with the surrounding artwork. - Keep an eye on the Reference Layer to ensure you copy from the intended area. - Experiment with Copy Zoom to achieve natural scaling across multiple copies. - If you need to erase parts of an image, copy elements nearby and blend them into the target area for seamless results.
